Tarif : 60 €

Aaron Zeitlin’s Metatren

Online seminar for advanced students,  April 22 – May 2, 2021.

Four 90-minute sessions (6 hours in total), Thursdays and Sundays from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (Paris time)

Dates :
April 22, 25, 29
May 2

Metatren, Aaron Zeitlin’s first long multipart poem, was published in Warsaw in 1922, when the Yiddish avant-garde was in full flower (Zeitlin was 24 at the time).  The poem is nearly avant-garde in style, but is the direct opposite in content to the blasphemous outlook that inspired writers like Broderzon and Markish. The poem, based in a Kabbalistic conception of the world, depicts the human being’s place in creation through a cascade of diverse rhythms and dazzling imagery.

The seminar will be conducted entirely in Yiddish, via Zoom.
